Took D to his first air show

It was the NY Air Show at Stewart airport. The show was very good. Highlights were the F-35 demo, the Royal Red Arrows, and the Blue Angels.

I think D had a great time considering how much walking, standing, and waiting had been involved. We left during the middle of the Blue Angels performance since we were both worn out and had seen enough. D did take home an F-18 Blue Angels toy and had been flying it around when we got home.

It was nice seeing all the Civil Air Patrol cadets and seniors out. They seemed to have a great turn out. Just about every where you looked, you could see a CAP member.

D enjoyed the C-17 walk through. That is until the F-35 demo started. The noise that plane makes is impressive and we scooted out of the C-17 pretty quick so we could see what was going on.

The commute home was brutal… 76 miles took over 3 hours. That was the only part of today that wasn’t fun. The drive to the show was long (just about 2 hours plus time to park). But it was AWESOME. The route followed the Hudson River and up and down a couple mountains with some fun switchbacks and beautiful sights.
