D’s First Day of Kindergarten

D’s first day of Kindergarten – COVID-19 style.

Oof. It wasn’t as smooth of a start as we would have preferred.

There was a mix up with which school D was to go to. It took a week to get it sorted and just in time for kindergarten to actually start. But his account wouldn’t work so he couldn’t log in. We were able to log in far enough to get his homework assignments. We just couldn’t log into the video conference for the live classroom. About a week later and some creative fiddling, D got access to the live classroom.

At this point, we think we have the bugs sorted out and we’re working on establishing a new routine.

For me, it’s been a treat. On one hand, it would be great for D to be off at school. With COVID-19, it’s not safe yet. So I get to see Dmitri throughout the day. I get to see his teachers. I can pop in now and then and see what he’s learning and how the teacher is teaching. It’s been a treat and one that wouldn’t have been an option before this pandemic.

So ideally, we would have loved to take photos in front of his school as we dropped him off. Those will wait for another day. Here he is, from his bedroom, his first day of kindergarten…
