Disney Magic Cruise: NYC -> Castaway Cay -> WDW -> NYC

We are on the Disney Magic from NYC to Castaway Cay and WDW.

Day 1

Here D and Olessia are at the terminal and we are about to board. Iron Man is tucked away in one of the clubs for kids which is not usually open for adults. We were able to visit during the open house.

Here we have boarded the Disney Magic in NYC and are heading out. D and Olessia can be seen on the veranda. After dinner, D enjoyed the classic Mickey ice cream and had a visit with Mickey himself!

Day 2

Swimming onboard the Disney Magic

Dinner at Rapunzel’s. We are, I think, off the coast of the Carolinas. We ended up crazy close to the stage. D enjoyed the visits by Rapunzel and the other characters. We have another family at our table and D had fun playing games with a new friend (see photo where he is holding hands).

Day 3

A busy day at the pool where D enjoyed going down the slide by himself. Then swam with mom. Later in the day, we attended the Mouse-querade party. We were dressed as Toy Story characters. D made out with a solid half bag of candy. I think he had a good time.

Day 4 – Castaway Cay

We made it to Castaway Cay in the Bahamas. We spent half the day at the beach.

It was a treat to spend the day in the Bahamas. When we weren’t eating, we were swimming. The weather and water were fantastic.

Day 5 – WDW

From Castaway Cay, we hopped back on the Magic for the night. The Magic then headed over to Florida. In the morning, we boarded a bus for a 1 hour trip to Disney World (we opted to start at Magic Kingdom).

D was tall enough to ride Splash Mountain. I took him on the tea cups twice in a row (no lines). That was the limit for me as I was starting to feel funny. After finishing the day in the park, we had a character dinner and then back to the Magic.

Day 6 – Back on the Magic

The Atlantic is a bit active this morning (the ship is gently rocking). We are off of the Florida coast heading back to NYC.

Olessia grabbed my camera and took some photos of me. I tried the coffee from one of the onboard cafes and found they draw Disney/Marvel images in the foam.

Day 6 evening was Pirate Night. We were not prepared with a pirate costume. Disney did provide pirate bandanas. There was a celebration going on at Rapunzel’s. Out of luck, I don’t know, but D and his new friend got to dance and go around all the tables with Rapunzel. After dinner, we attended the pirate party where D enjoyed dancing. He didn’t so much enjoy the fireworks (they were loud and bright).

Day 7

This was our last full day on the Magic.

In the morning, Olessia had spotted dolphins swimming by the ship. Several hours later, a ship announcement said there were a pod of dolphins swimming by the ship and whales had been spotted as well. We were wrong the wrong side of the ship to see the whales and when we got on the right side, it was too late. Word was the dolphins swam with the ship for a good part of the day.

Weather this day was chilly and windy. Windy enough you had to hold on to your hat. The temperature was also dropping and a jacket was needed to stay warm. Yet people and kids were still swimming. We did not.

The sunset photo was taken from our cabin. The photo doesn’t do the view justice (you’ll have to imagine the sound of waves crashing and the smell of the ocean).

The video is Olessia and D dancing while we wait for our scheduled dinner.

And the last of the cruise photos. These were taken by the cruise photographers.
